F4U Corsair in Action
Description:

Updated and expanded with 53 exciting new photographs in 16 all new, additional pages. Bringing to mind the exploits of 'Pappy' Boyington and his 'Blacksheep Squadron' and Tommy Blackburn with the 'Jolly Rogers,' the Corsair is among the most formidable US fighters of World War II. The F4U maintained a kill ratio of 11:1 according to the United States Navy and went on to serve American forces in Korea, holding its own in the early years of the jet age. The Corsair was first conceived as a high-speed, high-altitude fighter for the Navy in 1938 when Chance Vought's design team drew up plans for a fighter with a 1,800 hp engine and a huge 13-foot propeller. The Corsair's famous inverted gull wing design was introduced to allow prop clearance. Handling problems delayed the aircraft's deployment aboard carriers, but Marine Corps pilots quickly took to the powerful, rugged fighter and VMF-124, the first Marine squadron to fly the Corsair in combat, also produced the first Corsair air ace, Kenneth A. Walsh, by the summer of 1943. A total of 12,571 Corsairs were built between 1940 and 1952, most of them by Vought, but hundreds by Goodyear and Brewster as those companies' assembly lines had to be pressed into service to meet soaring demand for the remarkable aircraft. This exhaustive volume surveys the history of the Corsair from its first prototype to the restored warbirds that have continued to delight air show audiences down to the present day. Illustrated with 229 photographs, plus color profiles and detailed line drawings; 80 pages.

1/48 Focke-Wulf FW190 A3
Description:

  This is a plastic 1/48 Focke-Wulf Fw-190 A3 Airplane from Tamiya.

When the first Fw190's appeared in 1941 they were a serious threat to RAF air
superiority in the skies over occupied France. Their 1700HP BMW801 radial
engine and superb maneuverability gave them a performance edge that was not
challenged until the RAF started receiving the improved Spitfire Mk IX. The
Tamiya Fw190 A-3 builds up into a highly detailed 1/48th scale replica and
includes high quality water activated decals for three aircraft.

FEATURES: Highly detailed 1/48th scale plastic kit for static display.
Approximately 50 parts in medium grey and clear with fine recessed
            panel lines.
          Detailed engine and wheel well.
Multi-part canopy may be posed open or closed.
Rotating propellor: the propellor plugs into a polythene bushing
which allows adding it late in assembly so there is less chance of
            breakage.

1/72 Horten Go-229
Description:

By the end of World War II, the brothers Reimar and Walter Horten were two of the best-known designers of flying wing aircraft in Germany. They brought their experience in this field into a special unit which, as Sonderkommando 9, was responsible for the development of tailless all-wing aircraft. The development of the machine known as the Horten Ho IX, equipped with two BMW 003A-1 jet engines began in 1942. Whereas the first machines could only be made as gliders due to difficulties with the jet engine, the second prototype received a Jumo 004B-1 engine. In 1944 the V2 made its first flight reaching speeds of over 780 km/h. The production of the Horten was transferred to the Gothaer Waggonfabrik and the designation was changed to the Go 229. The first machine from the Gothaer Waggonfabrik, the Go 229 A-O V3 received a Jumo 004-C engine.

Part#: TAM61087
1/48 Messerschmitt Me262 A-la
Description:

The revolutionary Messerschmitt Me262 was the first jet powered plane to see service. The construction of pre-production aircraft designated Me262 A-0 started in April 1944 but the fighter production version that should have been the first version to be mass-produced was delayed because of Hitler's strict contrary orders prioritizing the deployment of fighter/bomber A-2a version. Then, in November 1944, the Me262 A-1a fighter version was finally put into production. It was equipped with four 30mm cannons in the nose to counter Allied bombers and escorting fighters. Late production planes were equipped with hooks under the nose to mount rocket launchers and with 24 R4M air-to-air rocket under the wings making the Me262 the most feared German fighter by Allied pilots.

Tamiya presents the plastic assembly kit of the Messerschmitt Me262 that was used by the Luftwaffe during the closing days of WWII. 1/48 Scale, Overall Length: 221mm, Overall Width: 264mm. The unique form of the Me262 with its engine nacelles under each wing has been accurately replicated. The 4 X 30mm cannon mounted in the nose and cockpit have been reproduced down to the finest details. Canopy and gun bay access panels can be mounted in either open or closed position. R4M air-to-air rockets with launchers to be mounted under the wings and W.Gr 21 air-to-air rocket-launchers to be assembled under the nose are part of the kit. Nose wheel well comes as a die-cast weight. A pilot figure and decals for 4 different markings are included in the kit.
