Servos: Is Digital Better than Analog?
Every Futaba
digital servo comes with a quartz crystal-controlled
microprocessor, plus a Field Effect Transistors (FET) that
amplifies the signal. The microprocessor sends pulsed power
6 times faster to the motor, increasing response up to 50%
over an analog servo.
Response is also
appreciably smoother because each signal-to-move is divided
into six smaller, easier steps. The faster pulse rates
enable the servo to hold a precise setting over time.
Digital precision means extra-tight tolerances that enable
servos to snap back on-center with enviable ease and
incredible accuracy.
Futaba digital
servos feature an updated gear train technology that allows
resolution to start at premium levels — and stay there. Plus
the gears not only stay in-mesh longer, they last longer and
cost less to replace. Digital servo gears also weigh less,
so there less mass for the motor to move, which further
enhances response. |
